Prior planning, conditioning helps reduce injuries on the slopes

With more snow in the forecast and school winter breaks just days away, the Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Teaching and Research Foundation (OTRF) founded by Dr. Steven Chudik, orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with the Shoulder, Knee and Sports Medicine Injury Clinic in Westmont, Ill., has tips to help prevent injuries when you hit the slopes. Regardless if you snowboard or ski, the information addresses the most common slope injuries including torn anterior and posterior (ACL/PCL), and medial and lateral collateral (MCL/LCL) ligaments, clavicle (collarbone) fractures and ankle strains. Click for OTRF’s tips to preventing injuries on the slopes.

Should you or someone you know get injured–either on or off the slopes–it is important to be evaluated by an orthopaedic specialist so treatment can begin as soon as possible. Delays can make treatment and recovery more difficult.

Click to schedule an appointment online with Dr. Chudik, or call 630-324-0402. Dr. Chudik has convenient hours in both Westmont and Western Springs, Ill., as well as diagnostic imaging capability including X-ray and MRI.
